The New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC) development will transform the Downtown Cultural Arts District in New Brunswick, New Jersey. This project includes the development of two state-of-the-art theater spaces, dedicated rehearsal studios, academic and office space. The project also includes 207 residential rental apartments and public parking. THA Consulting, Inc. (THA) worked with the prime architect Elkus Manfredi and the New Brunswick Parking Authority to design the seven tier NBPAC mixed-use parking facility that includes 344 parking space, electric vehicle charging stations, TD Bank employee and customer parking, bike parking, ballet rehearsal space, loading docks, and ancillary space. The ground floor of the facility provides sufficient space to permit delivery and sanitation trucks to access the loading docks of the adjacent Performing Arts Center and residential tower. The facility’s parking access and revenue control consists of a License Plate Recognition (LPR) system. This camera-based technology precluded the use of standard gates at the garage’s entry and exit points. The LPR system allows users with a valid permit to park in the facility. Additionally, the system allows transient parkers to enter the garage and pay at kiosks or using a mobile app. The system also utilizes the New Brunswick Parking Authority’s existing LPR equipped enforcement vehicles.
